State banner photos

State and profile banner photos are public-domain images from U.S. federal agencies. We cropped and resized them; we didn't otherwise change them. The photos show public land or wildlife and don't show any outfitter's hunts, clients or property. A profile's photo is labelled as illustrative. It is chosen from photos of its state that match the species named on its state record, then the part of the state its units, areas or county fall in, then the state as a whole, and is the same on every visit. Profiles that mention private land get a landscape rather than wildlife.
